Graffiti Mundo
With the enigmatic markings of graffiti guru, Banksy, gaining a cult following born of a punk aesthetic and international intrigue, it is no surprise that graffiti afficionados go global giving rise to a new breed of urban archeologists in search of concrete designs. Enter Graffiti Mundo-Buenos Aires based tour group that exclusively showcases the city’s emergent graffiti scene.
Headed by Marina Charles, the English conducted tours gives an introduction to the tumultuous ’graffiti renaissance’ and an overview of the techniques on display that reflect Buenos Aires’ distinct street-style culture; an underground phenomenon that has begun to rival such other emblematic meccas as San Francisco and New York.
Graffiti Mundo offers both group and private tours as well as the opportunity to soak it all in by bike. The tours range from $90 pesos-$120 pesos, spanning 3-4 hours.
Provided the popularity of its tour, Graffiti Mundo also holds workshops that teach the art of stenciling featuring classes taught by art collective, Rundontwalk and international pro-skater-cum-urban artist, Malatesta.
Graffiti Mundo also has an upcoming full-length documentary in the works with a focus on ’30 years of turbulent modern history, and how ultimately art reflects life’.
